Capturing Bach with ONE

Capturing Bach with ONE

With her 1782 Gragnani confidently in hand as if an extension of herself, LA-based musician Christine Wu played Johann Sebastian Bach’s classic violin solo with impressive ease and infectious enjoyment to a handful of lucky Apogee ears. With notes and emotion authentically captured with the built-in microphone, the recording attests to ONE’s high-fidelity capabilities even with a 230 year-old vintage classical violin. Each nuance and phrase of Bach’s Sonata No. 1, Mvt. IV –performed in G Minor – was recorded at 44.1K 24 bit via ONE’s internal condenser microphone, mic pre and A to D converter, straight into Apple’s GarageBand on a MacBook Pro. A true testament to its vast capabilities and captured with enough clarity to give you goose bumps.

“As a musician who has to do so much work on the fly, I’ve been so curious about ONE since hearing about its development,” Christine says. “The fact that I split my time between London and LA makes the challenges of high-fidelity mobile recording at the drop of a hat REALLY obvious.” After reaching tenure at the Houston Symphony, Christine brought her talent for weaving notes together to the recording industry. Now based in LA as a string arranger/composer and producer on records for artists such as Usher and Leona Lewis, Christine also records violin, viola and cello with L.A. Strings, a professional studio string section.
